While Mitch McConnell and John Boehner provide the non-sense, Michael Lind provides some relief with Morning Joe a bit more consideration, with Dr. Zbigniew Brzezinski. Note that Morning Joe follows up with a panel on Rick Perry. More message on the mess age, later. While I agree that the Perry birther talk is silly, but it may be a convenient distraction from his tax plan. Convenient for the media but not the country. And convenient for the blame the "gotcha liberal media" strategy that seems very much a part of the Republican story. There is a catch-44.**

My wife and I were taking a walk before the Apple Cup (The Husky-Cougar match-up)and ran across a house divided, speaking of tents, big or united. The game was not really on my mind that morning when I whipped up the tale of Cats and Dogs, but as we walked by this house, the wind must have blown, and their flag seemed to speak for the future. Huskies won 35-28 with 44 seconds left. It was a bad week for cats which will hopefully lead to a good week or more for 44.

Irony versus Hypocrisy

Shuster gives as good as he takes, but the irony is that Fleischer is there arguing over the childishness of Obama when Rush is not elected by the people, and neither is he. So the Catch 44 is that if Obama is wrong for painting the Republicans with a Rush Brush, then MSNBC is wrong for presenting unelected spokespeople for the Republicans, however it is the nature of the media to try to present both sides, and the nature of the Republicans to use Joe the Plumbers.

So rather than the declare a win or lose the economy bifurcation, the new accounting must include the soft power ingredients that do not come free.
